Get to Know Me

Karen was born in North Carolina and moved to Atlanta with her family in 1987. During her 30+ years in Atlanta, Karen has gained an in-depth knowledge of the city and a passion for the local Real Estate Market. She is currently a member of the Atlanta Board of REALTORS®, the Georgia Board of REALTORS® and the National Board of REALTORS®. In March 2009, after an intensive program, Karen became a Broker Associate. Additionally, Karen has earned her e-Agent certification completed the intensive Pace Setters Program, and is a Certified Buyer’s Relocation Agent.
 
She has been a member of the Top Producers of Atlanta Board of REALTORS® annually, and in 2017, she became a Lifetime Member after 10 consecutive years.
 
Prior to working in real estate, Karen spent 12 years in the corporate world focusing on accounting and finance. For five years Karen oversaw all aspects of running the CornerCap Group of Funds, an in-house group of mutual funds. She uses her knowledge of finance to assist her clients’ decision-making process when it comes to the purchase or sale of their home.
 
Karen graduated from The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, Georgia, before heading to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to complete a B.S. double majoring in business and economics at Carnegie Mellon University. In 1998, Karen completed her MBA in operations at Georgia State University, while working full-time. She received her real estate license after attending the Georgia Institute of Real Estate. In 2009, she continued her training and became a real estate Broker.
 
Volunteerism has always been an important aspect of Karen’s life. She volunteered extensively with the Atlanta Humane Society. Additionally, Karen captained a volunteer group with the High Museum Wine Auction for five years and volunteered as a captain for Hands on Atlanta Day. For two years she captained the host committee for the High Museum’s young professional Polo Party. In 2006, she organized the formation of a new member’s guild at The Cathedral of St. Philip for females under 45 years of age. She volunteered as Corporate Sponsor Chair at Morris Brandon Elementary. Currently, she also volunteers at The Galloway School in the school store, as a new student ambassador and middle learning parent coordinator.
 
Karen and her husband Jason enjoy traveling and entertaining. They are members of the Cathedral of St. Philip, where they were married on February 2006. In December 2007, Karen took on a new title – Mom to Mason. In 2010, her daughter, Quinn, joined the family.
 
She joined Dorsey Alston, REALTORS®, in July 2009.
 
Karen is the managing broker/owner of Anderson Property Management which she opened in 2009 and runs with her husband. She is past president of the Ridgewood Heights Neighborhood Association. She is a past Corporate Sponsor at Morris Brandon Elementary and The Galloway Schools in additional to Corporate Sponsor of Galloway’s Fun Fest & School Auction.
