The average price of an Atlanta home is up 5.3 percent over the last year, according to an article in the AJC.

The paper used data from the S&P/Case-Shiller House Price Index to determine the increase, which is better than national average gains, which were up just .6 percent during the same period.

It was also better than the 5 percent average increase seen in the top 20 metropolitan areas. The numbers are based on a three-month average.

Atlanta is also tied for the 11th-fasting growing, according to reporter Michael Kanell.

There is a “however,” though. The average prices are below their peak, though just slightly.

This is line with the trend we have seen for most of 2016.

While the frenzied pace of the last few years maybe have calmed, we have settled into a nice, healthy market.

All signs are pointing to continued appreciation for the foreseeable future.
